Poem 2 U

This poem reminded me of my baby...

You are my description of love
You are my description of friend
You are my description of everything
You are my description of beginning to end.

You have put me on a pedestal
You make me feel ten feet tall
You've always been there for me
You've loved me through it all.

You've stood by me through thick and thin
You've always been patient and kind
Just thought I'd let you know
You're the owner of this heart of mine.

So you ask how long I'll love you
Well this is what I have to say Past, present, future, always Forever and a day!

Sri Kirtan Sohila Sahib

Siri Kirtan Sohila Sahib

After traveling for many years and showing the people of the world the path to God, Guru Nanak Dev Ji came to a land near the banks of the Ravi River. This Land belonged to a wealthy man named Krori Mal who donated this entire land to Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The land was renamed to Kartarpur. Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the later years of his life here in Kartarpur along with Bhai Lehna Ji. One afternoon, while staying in Kartarpur, Bhai Lehna Ji was giving Guru Nanak Dev Ji a massage. What did Bhai Lehna Ji see?
When he first started the massage Guru Nanak Sahib Ji was fine. He had no marks or cuts on his body, but now out of nowhere Guru Ji’s feet were bleeding. There were cuts in the feet as if they had walked over some prickles or something sharp.
Bhai Lehna Ji was shocked! He asked, “Guru Ji, you are sitting here yet how come your feet have started to bleed? How come there are cuts in your feet as if you have walked over something sharp?”
Guru Nanak Dev Ji said that there is a Sikh who is milking goats out in the field. Call that Sikh here and then I will give you the answer to your question. Guru Ji sent another Sikh to call the Sikh in the fields. When the messenger reached the fields the Sikh was reading the Bani of Kirtan Sohila while he was milking the goats. The messenger told the Sikh that Guru Ji was calling him.
The Sikh came and bowed to Guru Ji. Guru Nanak Dev Ji then told the Sikh, “Whenever anybody reads the Bani that you were reciting (Kirtan Sohila), I am always present there. While you were walking around in the fields reading Kirtan Sohila, I was walking behind you listening to the Bani. I didn’t let a single cut come on to your body; instead I took the cuts for you.”
The Sikh asked Guru Ji for forgiveness and asked what he should do now.
Guru Ji told him that Kirtan Sohila Bani should be read at night time before going to sleep. First you should wash your hands, feet, and face and then read the Bani with full concentration. If you do this, then I will sit by that person’s side and listen.
From this moment on, Kirtan Sohila started to be read at night time. Kirtan Sohila is a very short Bani, but some people are so lazy that they go to sleep without reading it. It’s not like Sukhmani Saheb which is very long. It is only a few small shabads.
If someone reads this Bani before going to sleep then they will not have any nightmares during the night. If you die during your sleep you will not become a ghost or evil spirit in your next life. Guru Ji will look after you.
This is Guru Ji’s Hukam, “That person who reads Kirtan Sohila before going to sleep will be close to me.”
While reading this Bani with concentration you should think in your mind that Guru Ji is sitting by listening to me reading the Bani. This Bani is comprised of 5 shabads; 3 from Guru Nanak Dev Ji and one each by the fourth and fifth Gurus.
Even Bhai Gurdas Ji writes that we should read Kirtan Sohila before going to sleep:
"They sing the Sodar in the evening and heartily associate with one another. Having recited the Sohila and made supplication at night they distribute sacred food (prasad)."

Panna 788

Forgive me Maharaj. On the invite I got the wrong panna referance..Should say Panna 788 from Guru Amar Das Ji...

Third Mehl:

dhan pir eaehi n aakheean behan eikathae hoe
They are not said to be husband and wife, who merely sit together.

eaek joth dhue moorathee dhan pir keheeai soe 3
They alone are called husband and wife, who have one light in two bodies. 3

Guru Sahib put a high importance in marriage which is not merely a physical and legal contract but a holy union between two souls where physically they appear as two individual bodies but in fact are united as one. Guru Sahib taught that our married life should also be molded on the ideal laid down for our union with Waheguru. The bride and bridegroom then share their life, happiness and sorrow; from two individuals they become 'Ek Jot Doe Murti' meaning one spirit in two bodies.

Invite

I wrote my eldest brother's invite to my wedding today. Never in a million years did I think it would turn out like this? Thinking. Swaying. Will he come? Will he not? Does he need an invite? No in my heart he should be there at every step sorting out the wedding.

Feel uncertain. Feel unhappy. A card to the brother that does not want to share in my happiness? A card to someone who I love more then life but is so far yet so near.

Maharaj's Hukam comforts me. No-one in this life is going to accompany me...

The Hukamnama today is by Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj, in Raag Jaitsaree, on Ang 700 of Siri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj.

Jaitsree, Fifth Mehl, Third House:
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
Does anyone know, who is our friend in this world?
He alone understands this, whom the Lord blesses with His Mercy. Immaculate and unstained is his way of life. 1Pause
Mother, father, spouse, children, relatives, lovers, friends and siblings meet, having been associated in previous lives; but none of them will be your companion and support in the end. 1
Pearl necklaces, gold, rubies and diamonds please the mind, but they are only Maya.
Possessing them, one passes his life in agony; he obtains no contentment from them. 2
Elephants, chariots, horses as fast as the wind, wealth, land, and armies of four kinds
- none of these will go with him; he must get up and depart, naked. 3
The Lord's Saints are the beloved lovers of God; sing of the Lord, Har, Har, with them.
O Nanak, in the Society of the Saints, you shall obtain peace in this world, and in the next world, your face shall be radiant and bright. 41

The Love of Parents. . .

Bhai Sahib Bhai Gurdaas jee writes in his Vaars:

ਨੂੰਹ ਨਿਤ ਮੰਤ ਕੁਮੰਤ ਦੇਇ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਛਡਿ ਵਡੇ ਹਿਤਆਰੇ ॥
nooh nit mant kumant de-e maa pio shhadd vadde hatiaare
The daughter-inlaw then started continuously advising her husband to desert his parents instigating that they had been tyrants.

ਵਖ ਹੋਵੈ ਪੁਤੁ ਰੰਨਿ ਲੈ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਦੇ ਉਪਕਾਰੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥
vakh hovai put rann lai maa pio de upkaar visaare
Forgetting the love and help of the parents, the son along with his wife got separated from them.

ਲੋਕਾਚਾਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਵਡੇ ਕੁਚਾਰੇ ॥੧੨॥
lokaachaar hoe vadde kuchaare 12
Now the way of the way of the world has become grossly immoral.(12)(Vaar 37: Pauree 12)Bhai Gurdaas jee in another Pauree writes:

ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਕਰੈ ਦਾਨ ਬੇਈਮਾਨ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥
maa pio parhar karai daan be-eemaan agiaan paraanee The person who having deserted his parents performs charities, is corrupt and ignorant.(Vaar 37: Pauree 13)

Thursday 4th Dec 08

I had my first exam on Thursday and my Maharaj was there to protect me. I left my house just after 8 as I do not need to be in the exam hall until 9.45. Usually the journey takes me 50 mins so I had ample time.

I kept hearing traffic reports that there was stationery traffic between junction 10 and 11. I was hoping it would clear but I came to a standstill at 8/9! I was not too sure of the way (although Tom Tom was up). I was so close to going past the slip road and then I realise from Maharaj that I was going to get late if I did not get off the M4.

I came off at junction 8/9 constantly praying to Waheguru to help me get to the exam hall on time. I was so unsure incase Tom Tom just to took me to another traffic jam. At first I could not see any signs for Reading and then when I saw signs I thanked Maharaj. It was such a clear drive all with his kirpa.

When I was about 2 mins away I knew I was close but was not too sure. I stopped under a train bridge and looked to my right and I saw a massive bill board sign saying:

'It is right here...next right'

IT REALLY WAS.......

Maharaj spoke through a bill board :)
How I thank you again and again Maharaj for getting me through to the exam hall. I just hope with your kirpa Waheguru I pass both exams...

Plea of forgiveness

I pray to you Waheguru
Beg for your mercy
